Fall Festival 5K Run to benefit survivors of Hurricane Katrina
Virginia Tech Recreational Sports, in cooperation with Student Crew and University Sportwear, will host the first ever Fall Festival 5K Run on Sunday, Sept. 18 starting at the Duckpond. The race, which is open to the public, will benefit the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
The event will consist of a 1-mile Fun Run beginning at noon and the 5K Run beginning at 1 p.m.
Participants will receive a free tee shirt and others will be available for $5. First and second place winners of the 5K will each receive trophies. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners of the Fun Run. Door prizes will be provided by Pizza Hut, Squeaky Car Wash, TCBY, GNC Christiansburg, Sports Illustrated on Campus, Chick-Fil-A, Bogen’s, University Sportwear, Shell, Runabout Sports, Motor Mile Speedway, Farmhouse, Texas Steakhouse, and Champs. Refreshments will be provided by Coca-Cola and Food Lion in Blacksburg.
Registration forms can be downloaded online at http://www.recsports.vt.edu or can be picked up at 142 McComas Hall. All payments and registration forms must be mailed to or dropped off at 142 McComas Hall. Pre-Registration is $5 for the Fun Run and $15 for the 5K. Registration on race day is $10 for the Fun Run and $18 for the 5K.
