Judith Hicks Stiehm , professor of political science at Florida International University and the author of Arms and the Enlisted Woman and It's Our Military, Too, will speak at Virginia Tech on Monday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at 3100 Torgersen Hall.

Stiehm is also author of a report on women in peacekeeping for the Lessons Learned Unit of the United Nations' (UN) Department of Peacekeeping Operations. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, she holds the U.S. Army Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. She has additionally served as a member of the Defense Advisory Council on Women in the Military (DACOWITS).

Stiehm's lecture is titled "It's Our Military Too!" The event is co-sponsored by the Women's Studies Program; Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets; the political science department, history department, and sociology department; Women and Minority Artists and

Scholars Lecture Series. The event is free and open to the public.
