Staying ahead of the herd
This is the third annual Beef Cattle University here on the campus of Virginia Tech. This program was established as a way for producers and industry leaders to learn from each other. So I'm really excited to watch the connections grow and foster from this event. We came to the university because our industry is constantly changing. So, it's always good to get new perspectives, new ideas. Coming and being around people who are dealing with your same situation, your same problems, your same successes, it's nice to share that. We're here today with the beef producers just sharing what the USDA offers in programs. So, we're just trying to drill down to what this person's operation is like and how we might be able to assist them on their particular farm, which is the advantage of the hands-on workshops. I just graduated from Virginia Tech, and I think that having the ability to have those hands-on experiences through the facilities that we have here at Virginia Tech was really helpful and I really love what I do. A lot of our producers that are going to be attending this week, they are Hokie alums. They love to come back to Blacksburg. And Virginia Tech has always set the standard and held a lot of legacy. And that's why it's so special that we have it here on this land grant university.
