Telling the story of a community through photography

Category: culture Video duration: Telling the story of a community through photography
Through a project that began in the fall and culminated in an installation in May, School of Visual Arts students stepped beyond the classroom to work with Head Start, using documentary photography to create a mural that celebrates identity, connection, and place through storytelling. Through hands-on, collaborative learning, participants in Associate Professor Michael Borowski's Topics in Photography: Fact and Fiction course demonstrated how art can strengthen communities while providing meaningful opportunities for students to give back.
