Ut Prosim on display at Cheesy Nights
Free grilled cheese. Get it while it’s hot! Cheesy nights is an amazing community event. We end up doing probably somewhere around 10,000 sandwiches over four nights for students who are studying here at Virginia Tech, or at the Newman Library. Cheesy nights is really an answer to a need. The need for support during finals for students. I think any and all community events that are like this, like Cheesy Nights, fits Ut Prosim because everybody's able to come together and just have a great time as a Hokie. It's really great when you're going down the line. The parents are always asking you like, oh, where are you from? What's your name? How many finals do you have left? And it's like they really care about us, even though they're only helping us for like three seconds. You know, they're devoting their time and it just really models everything that Virginia Tech's about. It feels so homey, so nostalgic. You can't really compare with that. You can tell it's made with so much love. And you know, that's all what Virginia Tech is about. Love. I enjoy the look on their faces when you hand somebody not just food, but you didn't have to take the time to cook for it. You didn't have to take the time to shop. You don't have to worry about the money. Every single time every student says “thank you.” I think the thing that makes me happiest the most about this event is just, you know, the whole thing in total. I mean, everybody is happy, everybody is engaged. Everybody wants to help students. Students are very appreciative of the food and support from everybody. There just isn't a thing to criticize about this event. It is just a wonderful feel-good event.
