We are celebrating the inaugural Good Deed Day. This is an event that's being held across 90 psychology departments nationally and some internationally to celebrate the science of kindness and doing good deeds for others. Good Deed Day and I spun a wheel and I have to thank my roommate so thank you for being a good roommate Paul. Recent work has shown that kindness can actually improve health and physical well-being. Certain parts of the brain are engaged that actually relate to social connection and show that there's a difference in brain activity. Virginia Tech has a motto of UPROSIM, and this kindness and increasing kindness is really who we are at Virginia Tech, serving our communities through the outreach that's done. There's so many ways that that's ingrained here, and it's ingrained in our department as well in terms of the research we do, the outreach we do to the schools, and today, today's event. It's really who we are and who Virginia Tech is.
