Cadets, alumni, and family gathered outside the Corps Leadership and Military Science Building for the ceremony dedicating the flag plaza in honor of Timothy Price '01.  Price was commissioned as a military police officer and deployed to Iraq, where he was killed in action on Sept. 7, 2004.
Welcome, cadets, families, and friends, as we dedicate the 1st Lieutenant Timothy Price Memorial Flag Plaza. A place that will forever honor a son, a cadet, a leader, a soldier, and an American patriot who will embody the very best of Virginia Tech, the Corps of Cadets, and our nation. My hope is that this beautiful new flag closet will help keep Tim's memory alive, as well as continue as a source of motivation. for members of the Corps of Cadets to strive to be the best possible leaders. He understood that he was in a position of leadership and authority, and that meant that people were depending on him. And it's not often that a leader at that age gets that real understanding, but Tim had that. He knew the importance of taking care of his people. Tim was the Keel Battery Commander, his senior year so I'm currently the battery commander. It's an honor to come forth and represent the battery but also just be a part of this in remembrance of Tim and his great service to this nation. He did have a great sense of humor and I can remember that smile when they played taps today that got to me because what I could see was Tim's smiling face on the other side of my desk just you know a young man with such promise in his future it was important to be here today and honor his memory based on the location of this memorial i would like to start a tradition within the key of battery every time a member of the battery passes this memorial they'll give it a tap this simple act connects the battery with our history to ensure first senate timothy price's This legacy is never forgotten.
