Each fall, the Hokie community looks forward to the release of new, limited-edition Hokie socks designed by Virginia Tech students. This year, student designers Jake Sousa and Abigail Bollinger brought their unique visions to the project, weaving their own campus experience into designs that Hokies everywhere will soon have the chance to wear with pride.
I'm Jake Sousa, and I'm Abigail Bollinger, and we design this year's Hokie Socks. At this year's Design Up event, it was really amazing to work collaboratively as a group and to be mentored by real-world design professionals. So I originally began with a white design, but then I decided to change it to black because I figured out that we hadn't done a black design in the past. And then I added a little Hokie tracks for some Hokie spirit, and then of course the classic orange and maroon. When people see my sock design, I hope they'll feel connected to Hokie Spirit and remember their time at Virginia Tech all year round. When people see my sock design, I hope people will think about the Virginia Tech community and the connections that they built on campus. I was really inspired by the pass on the drill field, reminding me that we're all part of the Virginia Tech community no matter which path we take. This experience has been extremely impactful for me as a student because this was the first client-based project that I had here at Virginia Tech and in the end it allowed me to create something that I was very proud of now that my sock designs are available I'm really excited to see all of Hokie Nation wearing them
