During Cadre Week, upperclassmen, known as the cadre, participate in training and preparation to effectively guide and instruct the incoming class. This week focuses on leadership, drill and ceremony, and mental health to ensure the cadre are well-equipped to welcome and train the new cadets.
Cadre Week takes place the week before New Cadet Week and during Cadre Week hand-selected juniors and seniors come back and they train in order to prepare this new incoming class of freshman cadets. So I'm very excited to see the freshman class come in as freshmen who don't really know this kind of lifestyle and from there having their Cadre staff train and mentor and teach them on how to be cadet leaders. My cadre, when I was a freshman, had a really big impact on my development as a leader, as a cadet. This semester is probably the one out of their core experience that they're going to hold most dearly and remember the most. So getting to be a part of that is just super special and I'm really excited. What I hope that everyone takes away from cadre week is that this is one of the best ways that you can form bonds. I hope this is something that they can take with them post-graduation, whether they decide to serve in the military or go serve in the public or private sector. We are leaders. That's what this whole place is about, is developing leaders of exemplary character, which is the whole mission statement of the Corps of Cadets. And I'd like my cadre to go into Cadet Week, just remembering that and acting with that confidence.
