New string bowling lanes installed in the Breakzone
An overview and highlight of the updated bowling lanes available to the students in the Breakzone.
My name is Molly Bauer. I'm the Assistant Director for Student Center Recreation with Student Engagement and Campus Life, and I oversee the Break Zone. So the old pin setters that we've had in the Break Zone have been running since about 1968. It is obviously 2025, so that's about 57 years of runtime. So the new machines that we've just installed in the Break Zone is a type of bowling machine called string bowling. What that means is that every single pin is attached to a string on some type of pulley system. So when a bowler goes through and bowls their first frame, The machine itself will identify which pins were hit and which ones were not, and when it resets the pins, it'll pull every single pin up by their string and will just re-lower the ones that hadn't been hit. So people can absolutely check out our Break Zone website, and all of our hours are listed on there, as well as all of our pricing information for any organizations or departments who want to book a reservation with us as well. They can do that through our Break Zone website. We care deeply about our customers and about our students, and everything we do is to serve them better.
