The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets celebrate the end of New Cadet Week with a parade on the Drillfield. Major General William Seely III presides over the ceremony as the new Commandant of Cadets.
Morning, ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, alumni, faculty, staff, families who have traveled here to support their cadets, and most importantly, our newest cadets, the class of 2029. Now we've come to the most important part of the day, your oath to commit to our tradition of service and to one another. Repeat after me. I do solemnly swear. I do solemnly swear. That I will uphold the values of Virginia Tech. and the Corps of Cadets and that I will commit myself to becoming an exceptional leader of character dedicated to the mission of service to my nation, my community, and all whom I lead. This I pledge in the spirit of Ut Prosim that I may serve. Congratulations, cadets. Welcome to the Corps.
