Celebrating its fourth year, the Pamplin’s Inspiring Possibilities (PIP) Academy welcomed its 2025 cohort this summer of 31 students. The PIP academy is a ten-day residential program designed to introduce rising high school seniors from different backgrounds to the dynamic world of business and business careers. Students had the opportunity to interact with various business professionals and participate in the preparation and presentation of a team project facilitated by Pamplin College of Business faculty, alumni, business leaders, and current Pamplin students.

Hamplin Inspiring Possibilities is an elite academy for rising high school seniors to explore the majors and career paths in business. They get to interact with our faculty, with students, current students in each of our departments and across all of our majors, as well as with our alumni and corporate partners. All of those alumni and all of those faculty members are bringing their unique perspective, their rich body of experiences. It has the potential to dramatically enrich an already great program. So that they're not just learning about our programs through a PowerPoint or just, you know, kind of a lecture traditional kind of presentation, but really getting their hands dirty and what it means to work in those respective disciplines. What we do at Virginia Tech is experiential. So you're not just learning these technical things, but you're also getting some hands-on experience. I got to learn about the different majors within Pamplin. I got to experience it. I got to work with professors in that major. I got to do case studies. I got to do activities. I got to work with other students, alum, students at Tech. I really loved it. Coming here and talking to the accounting professors, finance professors, that really made it easy to narrow down what I want to do with my life. The way that PIP set it up, they made accounting really accessible. I feel like a lot of people think accounting boring, you know, office job, but it's so exciting. The ability of a young person to create a company and become an entrepreneur and really accumulate wealth early in their life, the chances are phenomenally stronger today. I met so many great friends here, so many people from different communities that I don't really, you know, see where I'm from. There's so much to do, so much information, so much fun, and you really do get to experience Virginia Tech before we go into Virginia Tech. What's great about it, when you're out there in life and you meet another Hokie, it's just instant connection, instant collegiate, I want to help you kind of interaction and something that resonates really throughout lifetime. There's a lot that goes into an education at Virginia Tech. There's a lot that goes into a student experience. There is an army of us out there that are volunteering to support the PIP program, not just in the faculty, but also among the alumni ranks. So they will have a relationship with all of these people that are already part of Pamplon, and we're welcoming them early on to our community so that they can stay connected and come here to start their journey. Let's go, Opie!
