        <description><![CDATA[ Biomedical engineering made swimming more joyful for an eight-year-old girl from Lynchburg, Virginia. Hadlee needed a long-lasting prosthetic foot that could move freely in the water and on the pool deck. Through in-depth testing, hands-on research, and help from an Olympic swimmer, the students from a senior design team in Virginia Tech’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics tackled the challenge — and developed a solution that not only advances engineering knowledge but had a powerful real-world impact on a little girl who loves everything about swimming. ]]></description>
