Registration open for Business Practices Webinar

Registration is now open for the university’s spring 2024 Business Practices Webinar. Offered virtually, this spring’s program will be split into four sessions all occurring on May 6.

The theme for the webinar is foreign gifts and contract reporting. Faculty, administrators and other employees in research or fiscal areas are encouraged to attend. There is no cost to employees, and participants are also eligible to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit.

The following sessions will be offered: 

  • Foreign Financial Support - Gifts and Contracts Reporting Overview
  • Foreign Contracts Data and Impacts
  • Foreign Gifts Reporting
  • Q&A Panel

Speakers for the event include:

  • Beth Armstrong, associate vice provost for enrollment management and director, University Scholarships and Financial Aid
  • Daniel Cockrum, director of contracts and agreements, Office of Sponsored Programs 
  • Karina Martin, senior director of gift accounting and information systems, Virginia Tech Advancement
  • Joseph Mills, director of financial analysis and strategy, Controller’s Office
  • John Talerico, director, Export and Secure Research Compliance, and university facility security officer
