University Libraries at Virginia Tech is committed to safely and securely sharing ideas, research, and scholarship with all patrons across the globe. Because of this commitment, the library is upgrading Imagebase content for enhanced quality, findability, and security.

What does this mean?

While the updates are made, patrons who use content on Imagebase without a university connection will need to access it differently.

While the more than 50,000 images currently stored in Imagebase are being transferred to other solutions that are more secure and accessible to the public, patrons should contact Special Collections and University Archives for help in viewing and obtaining these images.

This transfer work by Special Collections and University Archives archivists is ongoing and some images, but not all, are publicly available through Special Collections and University Archives Online. Patrons will notice that archivists have also been rescanning some images to increase their digital quality and adding more robust metadata for enhanced search and discovery.

If patrons need help finding images in the new platform or need help accessing images not already transferred, the Special Collections and University Archives team is happy to help! Please contact them at specref@vt.edu or call (540) 231-6308.
