Vision: In keeping with our Aspirational Identity and the Virginia Tech Principles of Community, we envision a future where emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental safety and security are not just aspirations but integral components of our workplace culture, extending to every employee, student, and patron.

Mission: Our mission is to establish and nurture a work environment that celebrates our employees' diverse identities while promoting equity, inclusivity, access, and wellness for all employees, students, and patrons.

Drivers for success:

University Libraries Belonging and Wellness Committee (ULBWC) and Office of Belonging, Engagement, and Organizational Development Office aim to achieve this mission through three key drivers:

  1. Organizational Culture: Projects that promote positive change within the Virginia Tech community and foster an inclusive and supportive environment. This includes ideas that address and improve our culture or suggest new strategies for inclusivity and belonging.
  2. Education, Training, & Learning Environment: Initiatives that support diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and wellness through education, collaboration, and resource sharing. Proposals should encourage a nurturing and safe environment for everyone, regardless of background or skill level, and may involve collaboration with on-campus or off-campus partners.
  3. Wellness and Campus Initiatives: Programs that promote wellness across Virginia Tech, especially those fostering cross-campus collaborations. The committee values projects that bring together diverse groups and perspectives to strengthen our inclusive and well-rounded campus community.
