Sign up for Summer 2025 Hokie Ready Academy

Interactive training designed to increase preparedness skills.

Virginia Tech Emergency Management will offer the Hokie Ready Academy — a six-week training program consisting of six sessions, each lasting two hours. Sessions will be held on Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m., beginning June 2 and concluding July 7.

Employees are welcome to attend these sessions during work hours with prior approval from their supervisors.

During the course you will receive hands-on training on how to extinguish a fire, what to do if your vehicle has a flat tire or a dead battery, lifesaving support skills, and how individual preparedness is the first step towards supporting a community during a disaster.

The training includes: 

  • Individual Preparedness

  • Home Preparedness

  • Vehicle Preparedness 

  • CPR Training

  • Stop the Bleed Training

  • Case Study of Disasters
