Stop the Bleed Training scheduled for April 15

When life-threatening bleeding occurs as a result of everyday emergencies, human causes, or natural disasters, one fact remains: controlling heavy bleeding can help save a life.

Registration is now open to sign up for Stop the Bleed. Stop the Bleed training will be offered on April 15 from 3-5 p.m. at the Public Safety Building in the Emergency Management classroom, suite 148. The Stop the Bleed program is intended to build national resilience by better preparing the public to save lives through awareness of basic actions bystanders can take to stop life-threatening bleeding in an emergency. This is a two-hour course offered to anyone in the Blacksburg campus community that is designed for individuals who have little to no medical training. The course is hosted by Virginia Tech Emergency Management.

Training includes: 

  • B-Con (bleeding control) information  

  • Hands-on tourniquet and wound management

  • Program review and summary
