University policy updates: Revised August 2023 - October 2023

The following university policies were updated between August 2023 and October 2023. Both substantive and technical updates are included below. Please read to learn more.

Academics

No. 6125 — Administrative Policy Governing Student Academic Complaints:  This policy was revised to remove the Dean of the Graduate School consulting with the provost prior to communicating the committee’s recommendation.

No. 6305 — Satisfactory Academic Progress:  This policy was modified to incorporate information about continuing undergraduate eligibility listed in President’s Policy Memorandum 191 and 272 and retire President’s Policy Memoranda 35, 36, 91, 191 and 272.

No. 6325 — Adding and Dropping Classes: This policy was revised to reflect deadlines for summer terms and update obsolete policy language to reflect current parameters and procedures over dropping and adding classes based on mental or physical illness and student consideration of departmental procedures.

No. 6365 — Approvals for Special Courses and Independent Studies: This policy revision included a technical update to clarify the syllabus submission goes to the dean for the student’s curriculum.

No. 6710 — Obsolete Academic Records:  This policy revision included a technical update to remove retired Presidential Policy Memorandum references and provide clarifying language.

 

Campus-wide

No. 1015 — Policy on Serving Alcohol: The policy was revised to update position titles.

 

Facilities

No. 5010 — Residential Camps, Conferences, and Workshops:

This policy revision included technical updates to department titles and links.

 

Finance and Business

No. 3100 — Fiscal Responsibility:

This policy was revised to include adoption and required use of university-developed Financial Transaction Review Analysis and Certification System (FINTRACS) to perform monthly transaction review and organization certification and associated procedures.

 

Human Resources

No. 4070 — Additional/Outside Employment Policy for Salaried Classified and University Staff: This policy revision included technical updates to links and references.

No. 4260 — Probationary Period for Salaried University Staff Employees:  This policy revision included technical updates for DHRM policy links.

 

Information Technology

No. 7025 — Safeguarding Nonpublic Customer Information: This policy revision included updates to reflect compliance with Safeguards Rule changes, designate the Information Technology Security Officer as the Qualified Individual, and adds requirement for annual Board of Visitors reporting.
