Need FAFSA help? Get free expert assistance in Roanoke on Jan. 18

Students and families seeking federal financial aid for higher education can receive free, personalized assistance from regional experts at an upcoming communitywide event.

“FAFSA Fire” will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, 108 N. Jefferson St. in downtown Roanoke. Financial aid professionals from Virginia Tech and other regional institutions will help attendees complete their 2025-26 federal (FAFSA) and state (VASA) financial aid applications.

  • Refreshments and door prizes offered
  • Participants should create their studentaid.gov accounts (FSA ID and password) for both student and parent at least one week before the event.

In addition to Virginia Tech, participating institutions include Hollins University, Ferrum College, Project Discovery, Radford University, Roanoke College, and Virginia Western Community College.

The Virginia Tech Roanoke Center, part of Outreach and International Affairs, is located on the seventh floor of the Roanoke Higher Education Center.
