Faculty applications open for Global Teaching Scholars Program

From: Global Education Office

Faculty members are invited to apply for the 2025 Global Teaching Scholars Program (GTS) – an immersive weeklong workshop that helps faculty develop a global teaching project and gain professional development in intercultural learning.

Facilitated by the Global Education Office and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, GTS prepares faculty members to incorporate global learning into their students’ experiences through interactive workshops and place-based activities in Switzerland and Scandinavia.

During the workshops, faculty will engage with local partners to build international connections for global learning and hear international perspectives on the pedagogy of global learning.

Applications for the summer 2025 programs are now open and are available on the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning website. Applications close in February.

Program impact

GTS has already played a pivotal role in launching successful study abroad opportunities across Virginia Tech, including the Department of Food Science and Technology’s Salute: Food and Health in Switzerland program and the Department of Computer Science’s newest interuniversity project and study abroad program. These successes underscore the program’s role in fostering global learning experiences that prepare students to thrive in an interconnected world.
