Requesting additional storage for Microsoft and Google services

From: Division of Information Technology

Virginia Tech employees who need extra storage for Microsoft and Google services can request additional space through their OU (Organizational Unit) administrator. This process helps ensure that users can maintain access and productivity on these platforms.

If you are unsure who your OU administrator is, you can easily find this information by logging into MyCAT (My Collaborative Accounts Tool)

Does this affect me?

If you are running low on storage in a Google or Microsoft service, we recommend that you contact your OU administrator before you run out of space in your individual services (Exchange Online, OneDrive, and My Drive) or on collaborative spaces (shared drives, SharePoint, Teams, and Groups). This will help you continue working without interruption.

What should I do?

  1. Use MyCAT to evaluate your storage to determine if you are approaching your quota. Detailed instructions for using MyCAT are available in the IT Knowledge Base, under Finding Your Organizational Unit and Organizational Unit Administrator.
  2. Locate your OU admin, which is also listed in MyCAT.
  3. Reach out to them to request additional storage for the services you use.
