Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair changes and highlights

From: Human Resources

Thanks to those who provided feedback from last year’s Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair. We continue to build upon each year and hope you will make plans to attend this year on Wednesday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lane Stadium.

Back by popular demand, we will have DJ Flex, the 360-degree video booth and photo booth, and appearances from the Virginia Tech Cook Counseling Center therapy dogs. Employees can participate in a variety of game options; get free health screenings; donate blood; get a massage and/or participate in Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s (VTTI) Sharing the Road with Trucks program (lottery drawing); visit more than 80 health, wellness, and other exhibitors; donate food in the food drive; and more.

Here are some highlights for this year’s event:

  • Get into the spirit of Ut Prosim:
    • Donate to the food drive for The Market of Virginia Tech and give non-perishable items at the fair entrances.
    • The American Red Cross will host a blood drive in the south end zone, east club room. Register to donate.
  • Worsham Field is back in action after taking time off from last year’s event. Enjoying being on the field and be sure to take a picture of yourself touching the Hokie Stone! Games and the 360-degree video booth will also be on the field.
  • Lunch options will be available in the East and West concourses and the South end zone from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch format continues to improve:
    • Concession stands will serve different entrees along with hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, and drinks.
      • Slice Spot in the West concourse will serve slices of cheese, pepperoni, and sausage pizza
      • Eat Drink Taco in the South end zone will serve chicken and pork tacos and quesadillas
      • Bigger Dipper in the East concourse will serve chicken tenders with fries
    • Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options will be available in the South end zone. The stand will serve Impossible burgers, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and BBQ jackfruit sandwiches on gluten free rolls, salads, chips, and brownies. Friendly reminder: the gluten‑free options are for people with dietary needs like celiac or allergies, so please be mindful of the limited quantities available at that stand.
    • Please note: A higher volume is expected between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., but food will be served throughout the entire event.

We are excited at the many options employees can choose from this year, whether it's to eat, relax, catch up with colleagues, play a game, dance, donate, get a health screening, or learn something new about volunteer opportunities, your health, or your community. Come out on Wednesday, May 20, and see for yourself.

Parking and ADA accommodations: Employees do not need a parking permit to attend the event and can park in Lane Stadium Lot 2. There are ADA spaces available in the stadium lot on the south end of Lane Stadium. Lane Stadium Gate 2, directly across from the ADA spaces, serves as the ADA entrance. All others can enter through gate 1, 3, or 6.
