Monthly parent meet-ups with Hokie Wellness
From: Hokie Wellness
With summer just around the corner, employees are invited to join the Parent mailing list to stay up to date on monthly parent meet-ups and occasional announcements about family‑friendly events.
Recent parent meet-ups have included open swim at the War Memorial Hall, family yoga, laser tag, an afternoon at the Children’s Museum of Virginia, and more.
Registration is currently open for the following events:
- June 13, 10 a.m. -12 p.m.: Parent Meet-Up: Bike Basics: Whether your child is just beginning to use a balance bike or already riding confidently, this event is open to all. Activities include a free 30-minute bike lesson (if interested), outdoor play on campus, coloring sheets, bike basics with Virginia Tech Bike Hub staff, car seat checks, and more. The event will take place at the Virginia Tech Transit Center, 1324 Perry Street. Registration required.
- August 8, 9-10:30 a.m.: Donuts and Dos ... Hairdos: Participants will get guided, hands-on practice while learning the basics of braiding, choosing the right products and tools for different hair types, building healthy haircare routines, and trying out simple everyday styles; all with free donuts on the side. This session is a judgement-free workshop designed for all hair types, and open to everyone: Moms, aunts, uncles, and any caregiver eager to learn. Children are also welcome to join the fun, but if you're uncertain about their willingness to sit still—or you’d prefer to focus on learning solo—we’ll also have plenty of practice supplies available! Registration required.
