Hokie Wellness offers a range of programs during June. They include:

June 6, 11 a.m.: Unwind Offline: How does digital tech affect you? Are you constantly checking your devices? Gain an understanding of your level of technology dependence and its effects on emotional health, the pros and cons of device use, and discuss addictive aspects of digital technology. The class will be held in the North End Center. Registration is required.

Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder.

June 12, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Improv Your Communication: Calling all Hokies interested in improv! Join Talent Development and Hokie Wellness for a fun, interactive, and engaging in-person workshop that explores the personal and professional benefits of learning the foundational aspects of improvisation. While improv has become a hilarious performance art over the past few decades, the essential elements of improvisation are valuable beyond the stage. Learn how the art of improv can be used to improve your communication skills. Space is limited and registration is required.

June 14, 12-1 p.m.: Wednesday Walk and Talk with Amy Sebring: Join Amy Sebring, Virginia Tech’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, for a campus walk that begins at the bottom of the steps of Burruss Hall and midway during the walk will lead to the Solitude House. Jon Clark Teglas, chief of staff to the vice president, Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities, will give a brief tour and history of the building. The walk will then conclude at Burruss Hall. No registration is needed.

June 20, 12:30-2:30 p.m.: REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Response Lay Rescuer Training: Knowing how to respond and possibly reverse an opioid overdose can save someone’s life and might help them access needed resources for recovery. Learn more about opioids, addiction, and how to respond in an emergency. You will receive a REVIVE emergency response kit and the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone to take with you free of charge. Space is limited and registration is required.

June 27, 11 a.m.: Self-care Strategies: Self-care is an ongoing and multidimensional practice. This program will discuss the barriers to self-care and walk you  through an effective and sustainable self-care program. Registration is required. The class will be held in the North End Center.

June 29, 1 p.m.: The Six Dimensions of Well-being: Have you ever wondered what well-being truly is? Attend this program to learn more about the dimensions of well-being and how to intentionally incorporate each into daily life. Attendees will have the opportunity to assess ways in which they are currently tending to each dimension as well as ways to identify areas for improvement with clear tips and action steps. Registration is required. The class will be held in the North End Center.
