Keep your Fleet Services access rolling: Update your Hokie Passport

From: Fleet Services

Whether you’re picking up keys for a quick campus trip or you’re returning a vehicle after a long reservation, your Hokie Passport ID Card is the key to keeping everything running smoothly. To ensure you’re set up for success, your Hokie Passport ID Card must be updated with smart chip technology. The Fleet Services building access system requires a smart chip-enabled Hokie Passport ID Card to unlock the entrance and access the key box.

The Fleet Services key box is located just inside the main entrance of the Fleet Services Building at 255 Sterrett Drive.

If your Hokie Passport ID Card does not work at the card reader, it is likely an older card without smart chip technology. We encourage you to visit Hokie Passport Services, located in the Student Services Building at 800 Washington Street SW, to obtain a replacement ID Card with the new technology. Once you have your updated Hokie Passport ID Card, it will allow you to access the building for key pick-up and return. If you plan on using Virginia Tech’s Fleet Services in the near future, please update your Hokie Passport ID Card as soon as possible.

We appreciate your flexibility as we move toward improved tracking and efficiency for transferring fleet vehicles between customers. This new system allows us to keep costs lower, maintain effective operations, and better serve our Hokie community.

If you are unsure whether your ID Card is smart chip-enabled or need assistance obtaining a replacement, please contact the Hokie Passport Services at 540-231-5121 or hokiepassport@vt.edu.

If you have any other questions or need assistance, email fs@vt.edu, and a member of our Fleet Services team will get back to you as soon as possible.
