Virginia Tech relaunches vanpool program with Commute with Enterprise

As the fall semester approaches, now is the perfect time for employees to consider Virginia Tech’s relaunched vanpool program. In partnership with Commute with Enterprise, the employee program offers full- and part-time employees an affordable, convenient way to commute while reducing parking demand and environmental impact.
The program is ideal for employees who commute 10 miles or more. Commute with Enterprise connects riders with similar schedules. Participants use late-model vans or SUVs, with maintenance, insurance, and roadside assistance provided. Virginia Tech supports the program with reduced-rate fueling and reserved vanpool parking on campus.
Monthly costs are shared among riders and deducted pre-tax from paychecks. New vanpools may qualify for introductory fares through the ConnectingVA Vanpool Program: $99 per month per rider for the first four months and $125 per month for the fifth and sixth months before transitioning to regular rates.
Employees commuting from the Roanoke and Salem area are especially encouraged to explore the program. Interest in establishing a new Roanoke/Salem vanpool is indeed growing, and only a few more additional riders are needed to make it a reality. Complete this Commute with Enterprise form to express your interest in joining the vanpool.
In addition to lowering commuting costs, participants of the program benefit from flexible scheduling, fewer personal vehicle expenses, reduced environmental impact, and free access to the ConnectingVA Ride Home Rewards benefit (emergency ride home program).
Employees can enroll online and are matched with vanpools of five to 15 riders. Commute with Enterprise manages vehicle support, while riders coordinate daily operations.
