Transportation options for traveling home for holidays and breaks

From: Sustainable Transportation

Many students are likely considering the most convenient and budget-friendly options for traveling home during breaks and holidays. Don’t wait until the last minute to secure a ride.

Sustainable Transportation encourages students to take advantage of the many different options available for getting home on break.

Within Blacksburg and the local area:

  • Blacksburg Transit: Blacksburg Transit (BT) is the local bus system that services Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Passengers can also use BT to make connections to other bus lines, with routes connecting to Radford, Roanoke, and the greater Washington, D.C., area. BT is fare free for all riders.

Around Virginia and beyond:

Other options:

  • Carpooling: Faculty, staff, and students can take advantage of free carpool matching through ConnectingVA. The application makes finding carpool partners easy by maintaining a database of people who are interested in carpooling. Membership is free and provides access to carpool matching, a Guaranteed Ride Home program, contests, incentives, and more.
