New secure bicycle parking available at Perry Street Parking Garage

Virginia Tech affiliates now have access to a secure bicycle parking facility that is intended to make active commuting to campus more convenient. This new premium parking option, on level 1 of the Perry Street Parking Garage, provides enhanced security and convenience for bicycle owners on campus. With its location adjacent to the Transit Center loops, the secure bicycle parking area is a nice addition to the growing mobility hub near the academic core of campus.
Features:
86 covered bicycle parking spaces, including some for larger cargo bikes.
12 storage lockers for gear, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Self-service bicycle repair stand and air pump.
A 360-degree security camera inside the parking area.
Convenient access to the Transit Center Building’s shower facilities.
Users are encouraged to lock their bicycle or scooter to a rack at all times, for maximum security.
Eligibility: Any Virginia Tech employee or student with an active university ID card can register for secure bicycle parking. Bicycles, scooters, and other personal transportation devices must have a current bicycle registration permit sticker and a valid secure bicycle parking registration to be parked inside the area.

Gaining access to the secure bicycle parking area:
Register your bicycle, scooter, etc., for free by obtaining a bicycle registration permit here.
Email gettingaround@vt.edu to notify Sustainable Transportation of your intent to purchase a secure bicycle parking registration.
Visit the Virginia Tech Parking Portal to purchase your semester or annual pass.
You will receive email confirmation within one business day letting you know you have access to the secure bicycle parking area.
