Each summer, abandoned bicycles left on campus are removed to ensure that ample bicycle parking is available for cyclists who need it. This process also helps reduce bicycle vandalism and theft.

To make sure your bicycle is not accidentally impounded, please pay close attention to the signs on bike racks. Bicycles parked at bike racks with a yellow sign will be cleared beginning either May 18 or May 25. Please park your bicycle at a rack that is not scheduled to be cleared during the given week. At least one rack at every building will have a sign with the May 25th date to ensure cyclists still have a place to park their bicycles.

Alternatively, faculty and staff who wish to commute to campus by bicycle during these weeks can stop by the Hokie Bike Hub to receive a band that will be strapped on their bicycle, indicating that the bicycle is not abandoned. Bicycles with these bands can park at any rack during this two-week period, without the risk of having their bicycle impounded.
