How to report a physical barrier on campus
From: Office for Equity and Accessibility, Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities
The Office for Equity and Accessibility encourages the reporting of inaccessible conditions to further Virginia Tech’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive campus that strives to maintain a barrier-free environment.
Physical barriers on campus may include an inoperable elevator or chair lift, a blocked pathway, an inaccessible entrance, or anything else that impedes travel on campus pathways or access to campus buildings or services.
All members of the Virginia Tech community can report a physical barrier by filling out a short form, or by calling 540-231-2010.
When a barrier report is received, an OEA representative will investigate the situation and take appropriate steps to resolve the issue as soon as possible by engaging the appropriate Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities partner.
The physical barrier reporting form was implemented by ADA and Accessibility Services within the Office for Equity and Accessibility in collaboration with the Disability Alliance and Caucus to provide a more efficient way to report physical barriers at Virginia Tech.
The Office for Equity and Accessibility and the Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities partner on an ongoing basis to maintain a barrier-free campus environment. They also collaborate closely in the planning and developing of future construction and renovation projects highlighted under the Campus Master Plan.
