From: Virginia Tech Transportation Services

In celebration of Bike to Campus Day 2020, all members of the Virginia Tech community are encouraged to ride their bikes to campus on April 2. Event festivities will take place from 7:30 - 11 a.m.

Hosted by the Virginia Tech Alternative Transportation Department, Bike to Campus Day celebrates commuters who choose to bike and strives to raise awareness around the many alternative transportation options available at Virginia Tech.

The event will also spotlight the Hokie Bike Hub, the bicycle maintenance and commuter education center located in the Perry Street Garage. At Hokie Bike Hub, all cyclists on campus have access to free tools and resources for self-service bike repair. Cyclists can also attend bike-themed workshops and learn how to maintain and repair bikes through one-on-one sessions with Alternative Transportation staff.

Throughout the day on April 2, campus community members are invited to stop by pit stops at the locations below for free refreshments, giveaways, information on alternative transportation, assistance with minor bicycle maintenance, and more:

  • Drillfield
  • Duck Pond Gazebo
  • Hokie Bike Hub
  • McBryde Hall (Stanger Street)

From health benefits, to cost savings, and getting around campus and town quickly, the reasons to bike are countless.

There will also be a T-shirt raffle where participants will enter for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind Bike to Campus Day shirt at one of our pit stops.

RSVP for this free event on Facebook.

Please feel free to direct any event and campus alternative transportation questions to the Alternative Transportation Department at gettingaround@vt.edu or at 540-231-2116.

Campus community members interested in volunteering should also email gettingaround@vt.edu. Volunteers will get a free shirt to wear at the event.
