Navigating pathways in the North Academic District during construction

To accommodate capital construction efforts in the North Academic District including:

Pedestrians should exercise caution and follow posted directional signage when navigating the area. 

Please note that due to the evolving nature of these projects, accessible and pedestrian pathways as well as emergency and delivery vehicle access are subject to change. Changes in routes will be communicated via Virginia Tech News, the campus interactive and campus closures maps, Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities Twitter, and directional signage. 

Pedestrian routes available as of the week of Aug. 20

Pedestrian and vehicular routes available in the North Academic District as of the week of Aug. 20

Accessible pedestrian pathways will be available throughout the North Academic District including exits from the Perry Street Garage to the Data and Decision Sciences Building; along Bishop Favrao, Whittemore, and Durham Halls, from the Perry Street Garage to Goodwin Hall; and along the New Classroom Building to West Campus Drive.

Pedestrians should exercise caution and obey all posted directional signage and traffic laws.

Additionally, cyclists should only lock bicycles to designated bike racks. 

Delivery and emergency vehicle access through Perry Street will be available via the West Campus Drive entrance and the Stanger and Barger Street entrances.

Impacts to pedestrian and traffic routes can also be accessed via the Campus Closures Map and the Campus Interactive Map.

To access the New Classroom Building, Bishop Favrao Hall, or other buildings in the region from the Perry Street Garage, pedestrians should use the garage exit near the stair tower.
Pedestrians may travel directly from West Campus Drive through to the Perry Street Garage.
