Mail Services winter break hours: departmental and student mail

Student mail holiday hours:

  • Dec. 16 – 20: (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.): Owens Mail Room is open.

  • Dec. 23: (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) Owens Mail Room is open.

  • Dec. 24 – Jan. 1: Owens will be closed for winter break.

  • Jan. 2 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Owens Mail Room will re-open.

  • Jan. 13 (8 a.m. - 7 p.m.): Owens returns to regular hours.

  • Dec. 16: Packages already processed for residents will be held for your return in January.

  • Dec. 16: Any package that arrives without sufficient recipient information will be held in a designated unidentified recipient area for seven days before being returned to the sender. To avoid having your packages placed here and eventually sent back, you must submit your tracking numbers through the Campus Resident Portal—even during breaks. This is the only way to ensure your items are not returned.

Departmental Mail Services holiday hours:

  • Dec 23: Mail Services will be open.

  • Dec. 24 – Jan. 1: Mail Services will be closed.

  • Dec. 27 and 30: Department mail pick up is available at 11 a.m. Please email if you would like to use this service. No outbound metering will be offered through the winter break. 

  • Jan. 2: Standard mail carrier deliveries on campus will resume.

Please email departmentmail@vt.edu with your winter break hours if you would like to have your mail held for specific dates outside the university closure.
