Virginia Tech Mail Services: Key dates and summer schedule details

The Mail Services' student and departmental programs will transition to summer operating schedules. Please take note of the following important notices and dates that will affect our services:
Claim Mail and Packages - May 2-10:
Collect your mail and packages before the semester ends. Items are available for in-person pickup at Owens through University Graduation on May 10. All unclaimed items after this date will be returned to the sender. Forwarding of select USPS items can be requested by emailing your tracking details to studentpacakge@vt.edu for assessment. Currently, forwarding services for other carriers is not available.
University Commencement - May 10:
To accommodate commencement traffic, Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus offices will open at 11 a.m. Consequently, mail services will begin with a two-hour delay. Abbreviated departmental mail deliveries will be made throughout the remainder of the day.
Owens Mail Center - Starting May 13:
Owens Mail Center will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting May 13 for the summer.
Employee Appreciation Day - May 15:
Services at Department Mail and Owens Mail Center will be modified:
- Department Mail will run abbreviated routes in the morning.
- Owens Mail Center will open until 10 a.m.
Regular summer hours resume on May 16.
Service Interruptions - June 6:
Due to operational updates, both Department Mail and Owens Mail Center will close at 10 a.m. on June 6. Until that time, Department Mail will carry out abbreviated delivery routes, prioritizing essential stops. Normal summer operating hours for both services will resume on June 7.
Summer Holidays:
Mail Services will be closed on the following holidays:
- Memorial Day - May 27
- Juneteenth - June 19
- Independence Day - July 4
