Reserve your spot: ADOS-2 research reliability training
From: Virginia Tech Autism Clinic & Center for Autism Research
The Virginia Tech Autism Clinic & Center for Autism Research is pleased to announce that Dr. Norm Geller will be conducting an in-person ADOS-2 research reliability training on the Virginia Tech campus on Oct. 16 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (location TBD).
Research reliability training ensures that you score and interpret ADOS-2 behaviors consistently with established standards, and is often required for research publications in high quality journals and for large federal grants. It also deepens understanding of autism symptom presentation and interpretation. As such, it can strengthen grant applications, facilitate collaborations, and improve the overall quality and credibility of your student evaluations and programs. Even if you do not do autism research, this training is well-regarded and will deepen your understanding of autism.
This training is open to anyone who has already completed the ADOS-2 clinical training for Mods 1-4, and has some experience with administration. Attendees must also bring a copy of a protocol for each of the Modules 1-3. The training consists of one full day to review coding, complete two coding trials, and review interpretation according to DSM-5 as well as integrating into report-writing. It will not go over administration again, which was already covered in the clinical training.
In order to achieve reliability, interested attendees would then have to submit recordings of ADOS-2 administrations and your coding for Dr. Geller to review, and achieve 80% agreement on two trials within each module. The cost of these additional video reviews ($225 per video) is NOT part of the one-day training – they would need to be covered by the individuals needing it. However, anyone who has the clinical training is encouraged to attend, even if you do not have additional video review funding secured. This will give you the flexibility to submit videos to Dr. Geller in the future when/if you want.
Interested people can reserve a spot for this training on Oct 16, by completing this Doodle poll. We are limited to 30 people – first come first serve, and as of Oct. 1, there are 7 slots left. Cost is a suggested $900 donation, which can be completed on our VT Autism Clinic online donation page. All donations will support the work of the VT Autism Clinic & Center for Autism Research.
