Celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October with Hamlet actors

From: Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education, Center for the Arts

ADA & Accessibility Services of the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education (CRCPE) invites all members of the Virginia Tech community to attend its annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebration this October, recognizing the numerous and significant contributions of workers with disabilities.

What does it mean to lead as a neurodivergent artist in the 21st century? Presented by the Center for the Arts in partnership with the CRCPE, this year’s celebration on Monday, Oct. 5, will feature actors of Teatro La Plaza's Hamlet for a panel discussion about leadership, artistic excellence, and professional inclusion through the lens of neurodiversity.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register online.

NDEAM is organized by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. The theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” honors the contributions workers with disabilities bring to America’s workplaces and economy, carrying the spirit of last year's celebration forward through 2026 in honor of America's 250th birthday.

The panel discussion will be conducted in Spanish with spoken Spanish-to-English interpretation available. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and English closed captioning will also be provided. If you are an individual with a disability and require accommodation, contact Raksha Sharma at 540-231-2567 or raksha7@vt.edu by 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18.
