Listening sessions scheduled for Presidential Search Committee on Aug. 27-28 in Blacksburg

Five listening sessions have been scheduled Aug. 27-28 for the Presidential Search Committee and search firm to receive input from the university community on the Blacksburg campus.
The sessions are:
Group: Administrative and Professional Faculty Senate
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 27
- Time: 9-10 a.m.
- Location: North End Center, Room 2420
Group: Staff Senate (all staff invited)
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 27
- Time: 10-11 a.m.
- Location: North End Center, Room 2420
Group: Graduate and Professional Student Senate (open to all graduate and professional students)
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 27
- Time: 5-6 p.m.
- Location: Graduate Life Center Multi-purpose Room
Group: Undergraduate Student Senate
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 27
- Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Location: Squires Colonial Hall
Group: Faculty Senate (open to all faculty)
- Date: Friday, Aug. 28
- Time: 2:30-3:30 p.m.
- Location: 1000 Torgersen Hall
The purpose of these listening sessions is to enable members of the university community to share their insights on the characteristics they seek in the next Virginia Tech president. In preparation for the listening session, the search committee asks participants to consider:
- The key opportunities and challenges the next president will encounter
- Subjective or informal measures for determining the success of this individual
- Organizational activities that need to be sustained, enhanced, or initiated
A survey is also currently available for anyone who is unable to attend or would like to provide input prior to the August listening sessions.
