New regional tuition for Master of Engineering degrees in computer science and computer engineering in D.C. area
From: Institute for Advanced Computing
As part of its continued support of the commonwealth’s Tech Talent Investment Program, Virginia Tech is extending regional scholarships to applicants from Maryland and the District of Columbia pursuing Master of Engineering degrees in computer science and applications or computer engineering in the greater Washington, D.C., area. This new regional scholarship initiative supports students applying to complete their Master of Engineering degrees at Virginia Tech’s new graduate academic building in Alexandria.
The pilot program provides a 40% tuition discount off the nonresident rate for a full-time Master of Engineering student through an institutional scholarship. The discount significantly closes the gap between out-of-state tuition and tuition rates for Virginia residents, creating additional opportunities for prospective students in Washington, D.C., and Maryland. This program is a two-year pilot, with regional tuition rates applying for students starting fall 2026 through spring 2028. This new pilot program does not change Virginia Tech’s commitment to achieving 50% enrollment in the Master of Engineering program from Virginia residents.
