New art exhibit 'Joy Rediscovered' on display in the Perspective Gallery

From: The Perspective Gallery

Visit a new art exhibit, "Joy Rediscovered," by artist Amy Reader on display until March 1 in the Perspective Gallery.

Based in Asheville, Reader, an autistic artist and educator, is slowly rebuilding her artistic practice after losing most of her work in Hurricane Helene.

"The world is typically overwhelming to me. It bombards all my senses," she said. "In the forest I can breathe fully ... I feel deeply connected to the natural world and seek respite there."

Reader's artwork interprets colors and textures found in nature and connects them to her experiences of joy. In this exhibition you will find that the peaceful artwork translates joyful moments into a vivid sensory experience using wool, yarn, felt, and thread, inviting the viewer to share her memory of time and place.

Visit the exhibit during gallery hours:

  • Monday: 6-9 p.m.
  • Tuesday-Saturday: 12-9 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1-5 p.m.

An artist talk will be held on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4:30 p.m. during the closing reception, being held from 4-6 p.m.

The exhibit, reception, and artist talk is free and open to all.
