Executive Briefing Center in Arlington to be realigned under the greater Washington, D.C., area operations

The Executive Briefing Center (EBC) at the Virginia Tech Research Center - Arlington, will join the growing greater Washington, D.C., area team effective on Dec. 25, 2025. Under this new structure, Larissa LaCour, director of the EBC, will report to David Baker, assistant vice president and chief of staff of Virginia Tech in the D.C. area. 

“Larissa has led the EBC’s operations for over a decade and brings significant experience in events and facilities management,” Baker said. “She and her team will be an asset to the regional organization as we continue to strengthen and expand our external-facing functions.”

Located in the Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington, the Executive Briefing Center has been part of Outreach and International Affairs since the building opened in 2011. 

“The success of the Executive Briefing Center is rooted in the dedication and professionalism of Larissa and her team,” said Susan E. Short, senior associate vice president for Outreach and International Affairs. “They’ve created a space that not only represents Virginia Tech’s excellence but also fosters collaboration and connection. This new alignment allows their outstanding work to be even more closely tied to the university’s growing impact across the D.C. region.”

Following the work of the Northern Virginia Steering Committee, this change aligns in support of the university's growing presence in the region. The transition reflects the committee’s vision to better connect and coordinate university units across the D.C. area under a unified strategy: one that strengthens collaboration, streamlines operations, and enhances Virginia Tech’s growing innovation network and impact in the nation’s capital.
