Researchers looking for second and fifth graders for learning study

From: Human Development and Family Science

Researchers in the Virginia Tech Human Development and Family Science are looking for second and fifth graders and their parents to participate in a research study (IRB #24-1349).

The purpose of this research is to learn more about children's literacy, math, self-regulation, and executive function skills, and how those skills are related to each other, as well as the role life experiences play.

Participation involves one in-person 60-minute video-recorded session. During the session, the child will play with a Lego set, do reading and math activities, play iPad games, and play a Head-Toes-Knees-Shoulder game, while the parent complete two surveys. Sessions can take place at a lab located on the Blacksburg campus, Roanoke, or can also take place at the participant’s home (if located in the New River Valley or Ronaoke areas). Participants will be compensated with a $20 electronic gift card.

Those who participate in the study must be able to read and write in English. If you're interested in participating in this study, click here.
