From: The University Committee on International Affairs

Colleges, departments, student organizations, and local community organizations are invited to submit events for inclusion in Virginia Tech’s International Education Week calendar. The deadline to submit events to be considered for the IEW calendar has been extended to Friday, Oct. 3.

Submit your program proposal here.

Observed nationwide each November, International Education Week (IEW) celebrates universities’ strong intercultural communities, global connections, and international engagement.

Virginia Tech’s university wide celebration of International Education Week will take place Tuesday, Nov. 11 through Tuesday, Nov. 18, and will include daily activities for students, employees, and local community members.

The list of daily events is published on the IEW landing page. Students will also be encouraged to attend events on the IEW calendar through the gamified Hokie Culture Crawl challenge.

Events submitted for inclusion in the calendar should reflect the purpose of IEW —celebrating Virginia Tech’s international engagement and intercultural diversity— and may also reflect this year’s theme: “Thriving Together: Global Perspectives on Happiness, Wellbeing, and Human Connection.”

Students and employees whose events are selected to be displayed on the IEW calendar will be eligible to request financial support of up to $300 for their event.

Featured events already on the calendar include:

  • The Dance of Nations: Tuesday, Nov. 11.
  • Global Happiness Keynote: Wednesday, Nov. 12.
  • Student Global Leadership Summit: Thursday, Nov. 13.

To help financially support IEW events, sponsorship opportunities are available. Learn more about sponsorship perks on the IEW sponsorship page.
