Participants needed for study on DJing and hip-hop music

The Embodied Brain Lab is conducting an exciting research study exploring how DJing and hip-hop music production can serve as an intervention for young adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

About the study: The Embodied Brain Lab is partnering with Virginia Tech's Digging in the Crates (VTDITC) to investigate whether engaging in DJing and hip-hop music production can help adults manage ADHD symptoms. Participants will be involved in either a DJ/music production experience or a control group where they watch hip-hop-related documentaries and music videos. We will measure the effects of the experience on ADHD symptoms, mental health, and brain activity.

Who can participate?

  • Adults (18-26 years old)
  • Diagnosed with ADHD
  • No prior experience with DJing or music production necessary

Study details:

  • Pre- and post-intervention visit
  • Four-week duration, with two sessions per week (two hours each)
  • Location: Embodied Brain Lab and Virginia Tech Digging in the Crates studios
  • Compensation: Up to $100 for completing the study and a chance to receive a pair of AlphaTheta headphones
