Teens needed for attention and social experiences research study

Teens (ages of 15-18) with problems concentrating and their caregivers are invited to learn more about a Virginia Tech research study with the Teen Lab! We’re exploring how social experiences influence substance use in teens who have difficulty focusing—and what factors help protect against risk. Teens will be compensated up to $120 and caregivers up to $35.   

Who can participate:

  • Teens (age15-18) with difficulty focusing/ concentrating and their caregiver (18+)
  • English speakers
  • Must have a same-sex friend or peer (friend does not need to experience difficulties focusing) and their caregiver, who are both willing to participate

What is required:

  • Virtual eligibility session (up to 1 hour, with a parent/ caregiver)
  • Online questionnaires (now and in 3 months)
  • In-person or virtual session (2 hours, with your friend)
