Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair changes and highlights

From: Human Resources

Thanks to those who provided feedback from last year’s Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair. We continue to build upon each year and hope you will make plans to attend this year on Wednesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lane Stadium.

Back by popular demand, there will be DJ Flex, the 360-degree video booth and photo booth, and appearances from the Virginia Tech Cook Counseling Center therapy dogs. Employees can participate in a variety of game options; get free health screenings; sign up for the lottery drawing for a massage; visit approximately 60 health, wellness, and other exhibitors; participate in Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s (VTTI) Sharing the Road with Trucks program; donate blood; donate food in the food drive; and more!

New this year, there will be music by bluegrass band Ashleigh Graham and Appalachian Highway.

The lunch format continues to improve. Lunch will be available in the West concourse and South end zone during the entire event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A complimentary buffet-style lunch will include various dietary options like baked chicken, hamburgers, Beyond Meat burgers, potato salad, pasta salad, coleslaw, and fruit. A gluten-free station with hamburgers and Beyond Meat burgers on gluten-free rolls, salads, and brownies.

There are many options employees can choose from this year, whether it is to eat; relax; catch up with colleagues; play a game; dance; donate; get a health screening; or learn something new about volunteer opportunities, your health, or your community. Come out on Wednesday, May 21 and see for yourself!

Since Worsham Field will be recovering from the Metallica show, we will try something new this year and have games and music out in front of Lane Stadium. We won’t have access to walk on the grass, but we can admire the new field from the stands!

Parking and ADA accommodations: Employees do not need a parking permit to attend the event and can park in Lane Stadium Lot 2. There are ADA spaces available in the stadium lot on the south end of Lane Stadium. Lane Stadium Gate 2, directly across from the ADA spaces, serves as the ADA entrance. All others can enter through gate 3.
