Every weekday morning, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets renders honors to the nation's flag, upholding the longstanding tradition of morning formation, a practice rooted in the early history of the United States and aligned with centuries-old military customs. Morning formation is always open to the public.

On Tuesday, April 1, U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. William Seely III will join the corps for his first morning formation to assume command of daily corps operations as commandant of cadets.

The campus community is welcome to join Seely for his first formation on April 1. During the morning formation, guests may stand in marked areas between Pearson Hall East and Pearson Hall West no later than 7:10 a.m.

Please refrain from walking or riding bikes through the area until the ceremony is complete. Those not in uniform are requested to remove their hats and to place their right hand over their heart when the national anthem is played during the ceremony.

A formal change of command between Brig. Gen. Dwayne Edwards, the interim commandant of cadets, and Seely will occur on the Drillfield during the Change of Command Pass in Review on May 3 at 10 a.m. The Change of Command Pass in Review is also open to the public.
