Paid participants for study on 'Understanding how to protect teens from online unwanted'

Echolab at Virginia Tech is looking for teens ages 13-17 and parents to participate in a survey focused on protecting teens from online unwanted sexual solicitation (IRB # 24-1051). If you are interested, please check your eligibility. You and your teen are qualified if:  

  • You are a parent/legal guardian of a teenager between the ages of 13 and 17 who is currently living with you. 

  • Both you and your teen are fluent in English. 

  • Both you and your teen are currently residing in the United States. 

  • Your teen has their own smartphone 

  • Your teen actively uses social media 

  • You and your teen are willing to join a short (5-minute) Zoom meeting for the consent process with our research team before starting the study.  

The survey is estimated to take about 1 hour for your teen to complete. They will receive a $30 gift card or cash after completing the survey and successfully passing the quality check.
