Nominate a Black male student or advocate for a Black Male Excellence Network award

From: Student Success Center

The Black Male Excellence Network seeks nominees for two awards to be given at the 10th annual Uplifting Black Men Conference on Feb. 22.

Tommy Amal Student of Excellence Award for Leadership and Service

This award goes to a junior or senior Black male student who demonstrates exceptional leadership, service, and a profound commitment to uplifting and supporting fellow Black students. Named in honor of a former assistant director of the Black Male Excellence Network, the Tommy Amal Award includes a monetary gift and the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at next year’s conference.

Tremayne 'Trey' Waller Advocate of Students Award

This award honors an administrator, faculty, staff, or alumni who, like the award’s namesake Trey Waller, demonstrates unwavering dedication to and advocacy for Black male students at Virginia Tech and beyond. The recipient nurtures, guides, and empowers Black students to excel both academically and personally through mentorship, entrepreneurship, fellowship, volunteering, or outreach.
