Call for faculty to nominate students for Astronaut Scholarship

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation awards more than 70 scholarships valued up to $15,000 to each selected scholar. Scholarship programming includes an Astronaut Scholar conference, mentorship, professional development, networking and recognition. This is the beginning of a life-changing experience for Astronaut Scholars that launches students to positively change and influence society through innovation.

Students must be in a STEM major and either a sophomore or a junior (expected graduation between May 2026 and May 2027) and U.S. citizens. First-year students cannot be nominated. Fourth-year students on a five-year path can be nominated.  

Students cannot directly apply for the Astronaut Scholarship. They must be first nominated by a faculty member. 

A career in aerospace or interest in being an astronaut, is NOT required. All STEM fields welcome.

  • Your information
  • Student’s name
  • Email address
  • A statement why you are nominating this student

Following a nomination, the student will be contacted and asked to provide a CV (or expanded resume), a personal statement related to the mission of the Astronaut Scholarship, and an additional reference.
